a note
HOT WAX began as a quiet act of care, for myself and for the people I love.
After more than a decade working in public health and the social impact space, I found myself mistaking burnout for momentum. Always in motion, rarely present. That changed when I stepped into the role of caregiver for my father in his final season of life.
I started to rethink my relationship with time itself. In that stillness, I learned that presence isn’t just about giving your time. It’s about bringing your attention, energy, and heart into the same place. Honoring that shift became a simple practice of moving more slowly and remembering what really matters. HOT WAX is, in many ways, a quiet tribute to my father. A profound reflection of our final moments together, the space he gave me to pause, and the creativity he inspired.
The brand reflects how I try to live now...with intention, alignment, and a considered pace. Each element is designed to quiet the noise that pushes us to move faster.
HOT WAX is a small, woman-owned business led by a second-generation Afghan-American, daughter of refugees, making clean candles in small batches in California. This work is about presence and clarity, creating space to slow down, notice moments of connection and disconnection, and return to yourself.
I hope the collection brings you the same sense of calm and connection it continues to bring me, and reminds you to move in rhythm with yourself.
Thanks for being here.
